SQS enhances Skill Sets in India industrialisation model

To support its evolving industrialisation strategy, SQS, the world’s leading specialist in software quality, has announced the expansion of its Pune-based Centre of Excellence for managed testing services. The footprint of the site, which is in the Maharashtra region of India, will be increased by 133 per cent (from 6,000 sq. m to 14,000 sq. m), providing SQS with the capacity to increase technical staff numbers from 1,000 to 3,000.

The Centre of Excellence specialises in serving the needs of SQS customers in the manufacturing, retail, logistics, energy and utilities sectors. With the city’s highly-skilled population and strong engineering capabilities, the SQS team at Pune is ideally located for recruiting talented technical staff. The expansion reflects SQS’s global industrialisation strategy, which sees testing locations aligned with global skill sets.

Gireendra Kasmalkar, CEO at SQS India, said, “After starting operations in India through an acquisition, being in Pune has played a major role in SQS India meeting the Group’s objective of being the leading scalable off-shore destination. So we are only too happy to keep the virtuous cycle going by investing even more in Pune. This creates a win-win for us and for the experienced professionals passionate about taking the testing industry forward.”

“We have been extremely pleased with the talent we have been able to attract so far. With the vision announced by the Group about the role of Pune, we plan to take the game to the next level. Luckily for us Pune is an attractive destination for both the domain experts in our key verticals – manufacturing, insurance, ERP, telecom, retail, legal and gaming, and the highly skilled test experts. This gives us tremendous confidence in our plans,” said Santosh Kamble, Manager Talent Acquisition, SQS India.
To endorse the announcement, Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra met with Diederik Vos, CEO at SQS Group and Gireendra Kasmalkar, CEO at SQS India, at the Hannover Messe on 13 April. The Chief Minister presented SQS with a certificate, demonstrating his support for SQS’s expansion in Pune’s Special Economic Zone and agreed to inaugurate the facility when it opens at the end of the year.
